Author Visit

Suzy Kline visited our school today. In this photo some students from our classroom are acting out a part from one of her Horrible Harry books. This is a description from her website of what the school presentation includes:

Suzy shares her writing experiences in a fun, interactive presentation. She brings props from her popular Horrible Harry series, including the original stub pencil and light bulb necklace. She shows how the  "seeds" of her stories come from everyday life. Students also participate in a Reader's Theater.

Where I Live?

Third graders are studying Connecticut. Part 1 is all about discovering the geography of our state. Students created topographical maps to show elevation.

Writing

We have been working on narrative writing. Third graders have learned four excellent ways they can "hook" the reader and begin their story. Here are the strategies and an example of one student's work in Google Classroom.
